Magnatum Store, Copenhagen – Retail Interior & Display System

When Magnatum decided to open Denmark’s first physical store dedicated to premium caviar, fresh truffles and gourmet accompaniments right in the centre of Copenhagen, the brief was very clear: the space had to feel artisanal, rare and trustworthy — but also practical enough to display a constantly changing, high-value product range. Magnatum is already recognised online for high-quality truffles, caviar and related products, serving both private customers and gastronomy clients from their Copenhagen base.

Our task was to translate that digital and wholesale identity into a tactile, welcoming, “come-and-taste” retail environment.

Brief

The brief

  • Create a fully custom interior in a heritage-feeling ground floor space.
  • Showcase champagne, caviar, truffles, oils, gift boxes and accessories in one visual language.
  • Use warm, natural materials in dialogue with the brick wall and existing architecture.
  • Make every element modular or repeatable so future product lines can be added without rebuilding.
  • Keep it unmistakably Magnatum — refined, culinary, European.
Approach

Our approach

We designed, fabricated and installed every visible piece of furniture in the store: wall-mounted shelving system, floor-line bottle shelves, tasting and display tables, the POS/till counter, slatted storage/front panels, and the freestanding wine/champagne stand. Nothing was off-the-shelf; everything was dimensioned to the product sizes Magnatum actually sells (bottles, tins, boxes, knives, oils). That allowed us to achieve full-height product walls without visual noise.

The backbone of the concept is a timber grid: vertical posts and horizontal shelves that lock visually into the brick background. That grid creates rhythm along the wall, so whether the shelf holds 60 champagne bottles, a line of truffle oils, or premium caviar gift sets, the presentation still looks composed. Because the store works both as a showroom and as a pick-up point for online orders, flexible display was essential.

Materials & Detailing

Materials & detailing

  • Solid stained timber for warmth, durability and easy refinishing.
  • Exposed joinery and square posts to echo the craft story behind truffles and small-batch caviar.
  • Slatted fronts on the till and storage units to hide equipment and stock while keeping the same design language as the shelving.
  • Wide display tables on crossed legs for tastings, seasonal setups and event merchandising — Magnatum hosts and promotes tasting experiences, so the store needed a “stage.”
Results

Why it works

Single visual language. Shelves, tables, POS, and bottle stands — all speak the same design dialect, so the space feels curated rather than cobbled together.

Product-first presentation. The shelving depth, shelf height, and bottle rails are calculated to keep labels visible and allow staff to rearrange quickly for campaigns.

Site-specific. We used the brick wall as a feature, not something to hide. The warm wood against brick gives precisely the gourmet-provenance feeling Magnatum wanted.

Future-ready. New lines — including gift boxes, knives, oils, and accessories — can be added without redesign, which supports Magnatum’s broader e-commerce assortment.
